Walmart and Walmart foundation is trying to address the hunger challenge in America and encourage people to join this hunger-relief efforts through the Walmart Fighting Hunger Together program.

Walmart is giving $3 million to 100 Feeding America network food banks and their partner feeding agencies. In 2010, Walmart and the Walmart Foundation made a historic $2 billion commitment to fight hunger in America through cash and in-kind donations. The Fighting Hunger Together empowers Walmart and the Walmart Foundation, increases its size and scale to provide nutritious food and funding to nonprofits that are committed to finding solutions for this important issue.
Walmart is committed to providing access to the food that enables kids to learn and grow. Breakfast in the Classroom program is one way to reach that goal, because eating healthy breakfast every day is essential to the growth and development of children as students.The goal of Walmart Fighting Hunger Together Program is to donate more than 1.1 billion pounds of food from Walmart stores, distribution centers, and Sam’s Club locations, valued at $1.75 billion dollars and give $250 million in grants to support hunger relief organizations at the national, state, and local levels.
During the month of April, Walmart customers helped provide meals to families in need by purchasing select products in Walmart stores or by visiting Walmart’s Facebook page to vote for one of 200 communities to receive $1 million to fight hunger. With more than 98,000 votes, Youngstown-Warren, Ohio secured $1 million in grants through Walmart’s “Fighting Hunger Together” Facebook campaign. The 20 communities with the next highest amount of support each received $50,00. You can also act as volunteer in the community or donate directly.
